Color Selection

“Color selection is the most critical aspect of painting and interior design.”

Our starting point is acknowledging the Master Artist's glorious invention of “color" as a wonderful gift for us to enjoy. So don't fear the myriad of color choices, have fun with them! Are there “right” and “wrong” colors? Well…consider our world with a green sky, orange grass and a blue sun. We’d probably just stay inside, right?

Here are the factors to consider in color selection:

• Color has a powerful and measurable effect on mood, emotion, etc. Each color has its own “ability” and “purpose.” It affects how you feel and how you function.

• Each person has innate color preferences…colors they gravitate to and “like.”

• Each residence (or place of business) typically has color "themes" or colors than can be "drawn" from…existing furnishings, fabric, etc.

• Lighting is EVERYTHING! The type and degree of lighting must be considered to achieve the best results.In the world of design, there are "in" and "out" colors.
